NightSky Quilt

Nightsky quilt

We are expecting a new grandchild to arrive in September. Besides being super excited about the arrival, it means also a lot of fun with cute baby projects.

So, of course, a baby quilt was on the list. And the parents-to-be chose the NightSky quilt by Nina Dodge of Skyclad Quilts.

The quilt was fast to make. It also has some adorable applique with the moon. The embroidered stars are french knots and the tree is just embroidered with straight stitches. The pattern is great for improvisation of the layers of colour and the quilting - I did all straight lines and I love the effect it gave.

I can highly recommend the NightSky pattern, as a fun fast baby quilt or wall hanging.

  • Hey Gina, I did the quilting in complimentary threads to the fabrics. And for the lines I just used my machines quilting foot and I also have an additional guide bar so I could space out the lines as I preferred.

  • Love this quilt, but I am struggling with knowing how to quilt the lines, and what color to use. What did you do?
